Australia’s batter Glenn Maxwell returned in the action during the Big Bash League 2019-20. Before the league, he has taken a break from the game because of mental health issues. His return in the game had increased the hopes of fans to see him playing more international cricket.
Unfortunately, the player surfaced with an elbow injury that ruled out him from the South Africa tour. Also, there are doubts about him featuring in the upcoming 13 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Maxwell was bought by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for the staggering amount of 10.75 crore in the IPL 2020 Auction. He was the second-highest expensive player in the auction.
However, his injury will be a huge blow for KXIP though there has not ruled himself out of the IPL. But it seems impossible for the player to get fit in time for the tournament.
Thus, the Punjab-based franchise will surely look out for the replacement of Glenn Maxwell.
Here, in this article, we will discuss five players who could well sit in the plans of Kings XI for IPL 2020:
Collin de Grandhomme:

In the recent-past against India, Colin de Grandhomme showed his skill under pressure when his side was constantly losing wickets. He set up himself in the field, scoring an unbeaten half-century in ODIs. Thus, he has the ability to play match-winning knocks.
The middle-order batsman might take the place of Maxwell in the KXIP squad. Grandhomme has also the ability to pick the wickets in the middle which will surely be a plus point for the franchise.
However, his IPL figures don’t do justice to his talent. After playing for RCB in the 2018 and 2019 season, he was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction.
Grandhomme has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2017 season. All in all, he has played 25 matches and scored 303 runs and picked six wickets.
