The tall right-arm pacer Ishant Sharma is now the most Test wicket-taker among the Indian pacers in the SENA countries. During the ongoing Wellington Test, Ishant surpassed the previous record-holder Zaheer Khan in this list.
At present, the Indian team is touring in New Zealand, where they are playing the two-match Test series against the hosts. From Friday (21st February), they are playing the first game of this Test series at Basin Reserve (Wellington).
After the visitors were bundled out for just 165 runs in the first innings, New Zealand replied with 348 runs in their first innings. The hosts managed to get the lead of 183 runs. Indian pacer Ishant Sharma was the best performer with the ball in that innings as he had the bowling figures of 22.2-6-68-5.

During that innings, Ishant Sharma became the most Test wicket-taker among the Indian pacers in the SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). At the end of that innings, Ishant has taken 122 Test wickets in the SENA countries.
The former Indian left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan is now standing behind of Ishant in this list as he claimed 119 Test wickets in the SENA countries.

However, in overall, Ishant Sharma is now the second most Test wicket-takers for India in the SENA countries. The former leg-spinner Anil Kumble is leading this list with 141 Test wickets in the SENA countries.

On the other hand, Ishant Sharma is just one wicket away to complete his 200 Test wickets outside the Indian soil. The right-arm pacer has taken 199 wickets in 60 away Tests. By picking up one more Test wicket outside India, Ishant Sharma will become the third Indian pacer and fourth Indian bowler to claim 200 Test wickets outside the home venues.
Also, Ishant needs to pick up three more wickets to complete 300 wickets in his Test career. After Kapil Dev (434 wickets) and Zaheer Khan (311 wickets), Ishant will be the third Indian pacer to claim 300 Test wickets.
