According to media reports, Australian players may miss out the IPL 2020. However, David Warner’s manager has recently confirmed that the Aussie opener is still planning to feature in this tournament.

The novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has shaken the entire world. More than 250,000 people have been affected worldwide due to this virus, while more than 10,000 death cases have been reported. Like the other countries, the situation is rising in India and Australia too.

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) has been initially scheduled from 29th March to 24th May 2020. But in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the tournament till 15th April 2020.

This decision has been taken after the Indian government has decided to cancel most of the visas till 15th April 2020. Also, all the events have been suspended in the country.

The BCCI is monitoring the entire situation. At the present moment, they can’t take any decision on the IPL 2020. Meanwhile, the board will also have to look out the availability of the overseas players before deciding to reschedule the IPL 2020.

On the other hand, the Australian government has already imposed an indefinite level-four travel ban. This suspension stops a person to travel to another country from Australia.

More than 15 Australian players have earned contracts for the IPL 2020 season. Among them, some of the top cricketers are David Warner, Steven Smith, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell etc.

The Cricket Australia (CA) is still in talks whether to permit the players for the IPL 2020 or not.

However, Warner’s manager James Erskine has clarified that the Aussie opener is still planning to feature in the IPL 2020 if the tournament happens.

“If things change dramatically, which can happen in the space of an hour, the answer is you change your mind. It’s no different to everybody else.”
