As MS Dhoni is silent on his comeback in the Team India, his retirement speculations are increasing day after another. Some want to see him again in the Indian jersey while some think Dhoni should retire from the game. Well, former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif expressed that former Indian captain should play the T20 World Cup 2020 which is scheduled in November.

Dhoni hasn’t played a competitive match after the disheartening semi-final of the World Cup 2019 against New Zealand. Since then, he under sabbatical and made himself unavailable for the home and away series. The wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni’s comeback was somewhat dependent on the IPL 2020, which unfortunately has been hit by the coronavirus and has been postponed indefinitely,

So, it seems that Dhoni will now be not the part of the T20 World Cup lined up later this year. But Kaif opines that Dhoni deserves to be the part of the mega event.

Mohammad Kaif in Favour of MS Dhoni:

Kaif said that the wicket-keeper batsman has ‘a lot of cricket’ left in him and ruling him out will be ‘unfair’.

“See, people may have eyes on Dhoni that how he is going to play in the IPL and then there will be talks of the T20 World Cup but my view is different from others. I do not judge Dhoni based on his IPL form. He is a great batsman and he is fit now. He wants to play IPL, do captaincy and is showing his availability. He has a winning mentality and knows how to win games under pressure,” Kaif told ANI.

“So, I think ruling him out will be unfair. See a lot of cricket is still left in Dhoni and when a player plays for this long, there are ups and downs in his career. It happens with every cricketer, not just Dhoni,” he added.

After Dhoni had failed in the semi-final of the World Cup, he was poorly triggered, and many were suggesting him to retire. But Kaif still believes that former Indian captain is still a champion for him.
