Due to the novel COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak, the fate of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is widely doubtful. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is not likely to take any new decision about the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 at least before August.
After successfully hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in front of the record number of spectators in last February-March, Australia has also another schedule to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 in later this year. The country has the schedule to host this upcoming men’s tournament between 18th October and 15th November 2020.

However, the coronavirus has changed the entire situation in the country and the world. Like many other countries, Australia is also suffering from the coronavirus outbreak. Though the situation is now getting control in the country after going through the lockdown process, the country has decided to seal the border till 30th September 2020.
However, the ICC is still confident that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 can be held on time, especially when they still have around six months left to begin this tournament. Recently, a reliable source has confirmed to the TOI that the ICC will not take any cancellation or postponement decision about the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 at least before August.

The source told TOI, “The ICC will not take any such decision till as late as August.
“Right now, things look bleak, and people’s health is the first priority. However, what if the situation improves in a few months’ time? What if the ICC announces that the T20 World Cup is postponed in May itself, and things improve a couple of months down the line, and cricket’s governing body realizes that it took a hasty decision. The ICC will take time to decide on the fate of this event, till as late as August. Don’t expect any announcement before that.”
As of now, everything will proceed as per plan: The source added talking about the fate of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020
The source has also added that the ICC is currently going on assuming that the tournament will be played on scheduled time.
The source said, “As of now, everything will proceed as per plan, and assuming that the tournament will be held as per its original dates. So, all other preparations by the ICC’s Local Organising committee (LOC) in Australia, which is already in place, will be on in full swing.”
The ICC is always giving priority to the health of everyone, including the players, coaches, fans, officials and others. There is also strong speculation that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 can run in empty stadiums which many people from the cricket family are not supporting.
