Recently, the former Australian speedster Brett Lee lauded the former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman. The 43-year-old Lee impressed with Laxman’s beautiful batting technique.

VVS Laxman was one of the special batsmen in Indian cricket history. The versatile right-handed batsman served the Indian team from 1996 to 2012. He played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs where the right-handed batsman scored 8781 runs (average 45.97) and 2338 runs (average 30.76) respectively. While Laxman was majorly famous in the Test format, his former captain Sourav Ganguly always admitted that dropping Laxman from the ODI squad was a wrong decision.

Laxman was famous for his impressive batting technique, and this was the big reason why the national team had a strong faith in him even in the tough periods. Recently, Brett Lee praised his batting technique as he called Laxman as a fearless batsman with great foot movement.

It was great fun to bowl against VVS Laxman: Brett Lee

Brett Lee, who took 718 wickets in the international career (310 Test wickets, 380 ODI wickets and 28 T20I wickets), dismissed Laxman for ten times (seven times in Tests and three times in ODIs) in the international career. However, Lee mostly felt tough to bowl this legendary Indian batsman and claimed that the challenge was fun for him.

Lee added, “He had that cheekiness about him and that cheekiness in a batsman is hard sometimes because when they’re cheeky and on song, they don’t care who’s bowling at what pace, they’ll get through it and they’ll make you pay and hurt. And VVS sort of had that knack of knowing when a person’s about to get through his spell. He would get through the tough time and then cash in when need to. It was great fun to bowl against him.”

While VVS Laxman was a very successful batsman, he somehow mostly brought special performances against Australia. Laxman scored 3173 runs in 73 international innings (50 matches) with an average of 48.81, third-most international run-scorer against Australia during his international career period.
