Prithvi Shaw, the budding Indian cricketer, is the lucky one to get the support of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar from his childhood. The youngster continues to be in touch with the master blaster even after his Test debut.

Coming from Sachin’s hometown, Mumbai, Shaw hogged the limelight during the age-group competitions. He captained the India U-19 team in the victorious ICC U-19 World Cup 2018. The swashbuckling cricketer became a consistent performer for the Mumbai team in domestic cricket.

In 2018, he made the debut in the Indian Test team and achieved a new feat. He became the second-youngest Indian to score a Test century, only behind his mentor Sachin Tendulkar.

Prithvi Shaw has revealed that Sachin Tendulkar is his mentor since he was eight-year-old. He also added that he had learnt a lot of things from him both on and off the field. He said that the veteran helped to groom his mental health.

“I was eight years old when I met Sachin Sir and since that time, he is my mentor and I have learned a lot of things from him (ranging) from on the field what you have to do (to) off the field, discipline, and everything,” Shaw said during an Instagram live chat with his employers ‘Indian Oil’.

“Now also whenever I go for practice, if Sachin Sir is there to watch me, he will talk, not much technically but mentally more, so it’s been a great journey for me under the guidance of Sachin Sir and lot of coaches,” added Shaw.

Meanwhile, Shaw returned to the Indian team this year after serving the ban of an eight-month period because of failing in dope test. In last February, he featured in the Test and ODI series against New Zealand. In normalcy, he would have been playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2020.
