Star Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh on Friday issued an apology for allegedly making a ‘casteist’ remark during his conversation with Rohit Sharma. Things went out of control when a police complaint was filed against former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh in Hansi police station of Hisar district, Haryana for his remarks on Yuzvendra Chahal/.
The written complaint was given by Dalit rights activist and advocate Rajat Kalsan in which he has demanded registration on an FIR against Yuvraj Singh. The short clip has gone viral on social media with ‘Yuvraj Singh maafi mango’ one of the leading trends on Twitter.

Now, Yuvraj has issued a statement clarifying his intent and has apologized for hurting the sentiments of the people all over the country.

In a tweet, the former left-handed batsman wrote, “This is to clarify that I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people.”

“I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception,” the 39-year-old further wrote.

“I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same,” he wrote.

“My love for India and all its people is eternal,” Yuvraj finished with a heart emoticon.
