MS Dhoni is the successful captain of Team India as he has handed over three ICC Trophies to the country. He stepped down from the white-ball captaincy in 2017 after giving that role to Virat Kohli who had already proved his skills as a captain in Tests. However, Dhoni continued to play under the captaincy of Virat who improved his leadership skills in the presence of former Indian captain. Former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey praises Virat for the way he respects Dhoni’s presence in the team.
Sometimes the accompany of a former captain, who has been more successful, might create differences with the current skipper. But this was not the case between Dhoni and Kohli.

Virat Kohli learned to lead the team under Dhoni and was always forward to take the advice from the former Indian captain in the field. Hussey likes this quality of Virat and appreciates his relation with Dhoni.
“I think you got to give a lot of kudos to Virat Kohli, having someone like MS Dhoni still in the team who’s been, arguably, India’s most successful captain. Sometimes some people would find that threatening to still have that person in the team,” Hussey said in an episode of chat show Sony Ten’s Pit Stop on Sony India’s Facebook page.
“But I think that’s where you need to tip your hat to Virat and so you know he’s obviously got the personality to say ‘no, no I would like this guy around. I can learn from this guy, and he’s going to help me get down the better skipper and obviously have a better team’,” Hussey further said.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi star is under sabbatical and last played for India in the disheartening World Cup 2019. He has been silent over his comeback in international cricket which has time to time increased speculations of his retirement.
