The wicketkeeper-batsman — KL Rahul made the debut under the captaincy of just-retired MS Dhoni in 2016. He has closely analyzed Dhoni while sharing the dressing room with the former captain. Rahul noted that Dhoni’s calmness was an x-factor.
MS Dhoni retired in his own style without any pomp and show. He just shared an Instagram post to officially announce that ‘to consider him retired’. As his lovers were keen to see him play more for India, KL Rahul also wanted to play some more cricket with the Ranchi-born star.

“Like the rest of the country I too was emotional, we all would have wanted to play some more cricket with him. As I said, his calmness was insane and valuable in the dressing room,” KL Rahul told The Indian Express.
KL Rahul reveals the lesson he learned from MS Dhoni:
On being asked about the lessons he learned from former India captain MS Dhoni while playing with him for the country, KL Rahul said that the calmness and backing the potential players of the former Indian captain were the traits he took inspiration from. He further added that he has learned about passion from current captain Virat Kohli. The wicketkeeper further also mentioned Rohit Sharma’s quality as a captain.
“Yes, yes. Dhoni’s calmness and belief showed in backing players who had the potential to be match winners. Virat’s passion in the way he leads, the way he wants the boys to be better and better. Rohit always plays with a passion and backs players,” Rahul added.

KL Rahul has recently earned the place in Team India as the wicketkeeper. He went on to impress the team management with his glovework and stumping. The 28-year-old opined that he is ready to do whatever the teams want him to do.
“I enjoyed whatever challenge was thrown at me for the last seven-eight months. Be it playing a different role or to bat at any position. Whatever the team needs me to do, I will do it,” Rahul said.
Currently, KL Rahul, who will be the first time leading Kings XI Punjab, is in the UAE to start practising ahead of the IPL 2020 scheduled from 19th September.
