Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin from 19th September but BCCI has still not released the schedule. The dealy in the announcement has led fans to speculate which two teams will play the tournament opener. Earlier, it was expected that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will play the opener being the finalist in the last edition. But the spread of the coronavirus in CSK camp has made their participation uncertain in the tournament opener.
Although the CSK squad has cleared the COVID-19 test, they have started the training session only yesterday after completing their extended quarantine period. They have very little time to prepare ahead of the tournament opener scheduled on 19th September.

Earlier, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had claimed that IPL scheduled would release on Friday but there was no such update. There has been speculation that the BCCI has sent the schedule to the franchises, who are yet to come to a consensus.

Meanwhile, all the eight franchise have started their proper practice session to prepare for the much-awaited season. IPL 2020 was earlier scheduled to begin from 29th March but the outbreak of the coronavirus had led the postponement of the most popular league.
The 13th edition of the T20 league is scheduled in the UAE because of the rise in COVID-19 cases in India. The league will be played in three venues- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
