Delhi Capitals shared a video on their official Twitter handle where Ricky Ponting can be seen praising the youngster after the right-handed opener smashed one ball out of sight in the nets. The head coach was standing next to the nets and was closely watching as the opener hit the ball perfectly in the middle of the bat and dispatched it into the stands. “Shot mate. Awesome shot,” Ricky Ponting can be heard telling Prithvi Shaw in the video.

Prithvi Shaw was last seen in action during the Test series between India and New Zealand in March 2020 where he made his comeback after serving a suspension for a doping violation. He will be looking to make an impact in IPL 2020 and stake a claim for a spot in white-ball cricket for India. Prithvi Shaw has played 25 IPL matches where he scored 598 runs averaging 23.92 with the highest score of 99.
Prithvi Shaw Will Be Utilized At Top Of The Batting Order
His form will be crucial for Delhi Capitals, who are expected to utilize him as an opener along with Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane. Delhi Capitals have a combination of youth and experience in their squad this time and have become stronger ahead of IPL 2020 after some quality additions in the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane both of whom were traded-in.
