Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina will be setting up five academies in Kashmir and an equal number in Jammu to train aspiring cricketers. Raina has voiced his connect and pledged to help the J&K kids where talents remain hidden while growing terrorism and terror violence. Raina who grew up in the state of Uttar Pradesh belongs to a J&K migrant family.
Raina, who had travelled with the squad to UAE, had later decided to skip the IPL and returned home citing ‘personal reasons’. However, later it was found out to be a gruesome attack on his relatives which took away the life of his uncle and cousin. Also, Raina stated there is still a slight chance that he could get back with the squad to play in the IPL.

Suresh Raina agrees to set up 5 academies in Kashmir and 5 in Jammu to train aspiring cricketers
Raina visited Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and had a meeting with J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh to discuss the plans of J-K Police for encouraging local youths in honing their sporting skills. He also agreed to set five academies in Kashmir and an equal number in Jammu to train aspiring cricketers.
Suresh Raina took it to twitter to announce he was working on a project to help create a platform for sports in J&K.
“It gives me immense pleasure to get the support of honourable @manojsinha_ sir, had a productive meeting today with him on working towards creating a platform for sports in Jammu & Kashmir. Let’s make it bigger!” Raina tweeted.
J&K LG Manoj Sinha and DGP Dilbag Singh have appreciated Raina’s gesture for the betterment of the state and its hidden talents. The DGP said the presence of the star cricketer in Jammu and Kashmir would help in connecting with the people, particularly the youth, thus channelizing their energy in positive directions.
“With sports and education, we shall give a new direction to the talented youth of J&K,” Sinha said.
