On Friday (2nd October) night, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven runs in the 14th match of the IPL 2020 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai).

SRH captain David Warner decided to bat first after winning the toss. SRH scored 164/5 (20 overs) in the first innings while CSK replied with 157/5 (20 overs).

  • MS Dhoni became the joint most capped player for CSK in IPL history. Dhoni equalled the record of Suresh Raina who has also played 164 IPL matches for CSK. 

iii) It was the 188th T20 match for MS Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings.

  • MS Dhoni became the joint most capped player for CSK in T20 history. Dhoni equalled the record of Suresh Raina who has also played 188 T20 matches for CSK. 

iv) MS Dhoni has taken a total of 103 catches in IPL career (both as a wicket-keeper and non-wicket-keeper).

  • Surpassing Suresh Raina (102 catches), Dhoni became the second most catch-taker in IPL history. Only Dinesh Karthik is ahead of him with 111 IPL catches

v) MS Dhoni has scored 4523 runs in IPL career.

  • Dhoni became the seventh cricketer to score 4500+ runs in IPL career.

i) During this match, Ravindra Jadeja completed his 2000 IPL runs. He has also taken 110 IPL wickets.

  • Ravindra Jadeja becomes the first cricketer in IPL history to score 2000 runs as well as take 100+ wickets.

i) It was 50th match for Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan for SRH.

  • After Australian cricketer David Warner (75 matches for SRH), Rashid Khan became the second overseas cricketer to play 50 matches for SRH. 
  • Rashid Khan became the sixth cricketer to play 50 T20 matches for SRH. 

ii) Rashid Khan had the bowling figures of 4-0-12-0 with an economy rate of 3.00.

  • It was the third-best economy rate in an innings for an SRH bowler against CSK. The top two records in this list are economy rate 2.00 by Karn Sharma (4-1-8-0) at Chennai on 25th April 2013 and economy rate 2.75 by Rashid Khan (4-0-11-2) at Mumbai on 22nd May 2018. 

Priyam Garg

i) The 19-year-old Priyam Garg completed his half-century in just 23 balls.

  • It was the joint-fastest fifty for an Indian batsman for SRH. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh once scored a 23-ball fifty for SRH against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Hyderabad on 5th April 2017.
