Justin Langer had nearly thought of quitting his current Australia’s head coach job after suffering from severe health issues. He was appointed as the head coach when the Australian team needed a makeover after the infamous Cape Town Test in 2018.
Langer had the burden on his shoulder to lead the team in the absence of two batting mainstay David Warner and Steve Smith. The duo was found guilty of ball-tampering and subsequently faced a ban for one year before their return in the World Cup last year.
Amid all the ebb and flow, Justin Langer was silently combating health issues. While talking to ‘The Western Australian’, he revealed that he felt ‘seasick and drunk’ all the time, adding that there would be consistent pain in his left ear. After the disheartening World Cup 2019, the health of the former Australian cricketer further deteriorated.

“It was really weird. It literally just came on. We’re in England for the World Cup and one day I wake up and I describe it as like in Star Wars, the lightsabers when they start hitting each other,” Justin Langer said.
“It was a constant in my left ear. It was so bizarre and I’m not sure how it started. For about 10 months, it literally felt like I was seasick and drunk the whole time,” he added.
Justin Langer under treatment:

He opened up that he once thought that the pain was an ear tumour-like his father suffered 25 years ago. But brain scans gave the former southpaw the cancer all-clear, and now he is being treated for vertigo and migraines.
“I got to a point where I was feeling so unwell and not having the answers. I wasn’t sure that I would keep going in my job because it was just so stressful,” Justin Langer revealed.
Justin Langer is, currently, preparing his team for the all-important four-match Test series against India, scheduled to begin on December 17 with the day-night Test match.
