France national team manager Didier Deschamps has reportedly sued Samir Nasri’s girlfriend Anara Atanes after the latter launched a full mouth tirade on the coach after her fiancé was not picked in the provisional squad for France in 2014 World Cup. Deschamps’ lawyer has revealed that his client has filed a legal complaint for ‘public insult’ against Atanes over the twitter fracas.
Atanes had earlier tweeted “F— france and f— deschamps! What a s— manager!” after Nasri was omitted from the 30-man squad. Descahmps claimed that he had chosen the best possible squad which didn’t always mean that the best players would make the squad. Nasri has enjoyed a superb season for Manchester City this campaign scoring 8 goals and grabbing 11 assists in 41 appearances for the Citizens who won a cup double, the Capital One cup and then securing the Premier League on the last day of the season.
Deschamps cited as reasons for not choosing Nasri that the midfielder’s off field behavior could ruin the Les Blues’ campaign in Brazil. “As he says himself, when he is not one of the starters he is not happy and I can assure you that it shows, that others in the group feel it,” Deschamps told TF1 television.
The City star had earlier missed the previous edition of the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa after the then coach Raymond Domenech decided against to pick Nasri. The French Football Federation has also condemned the remarks made by Atanes, who has since apologised for her comments.
“I apologise if I offended anyone from France, My tweets were not aimed at the nation as a whole,” tweeted Atanes on Thursday.
The French Football Federation released a short statement regarding the unfortunate incident.
“The FFF condemns insulting remarks against Didier Deschamps and fully supports the coach in his approach.”The unanimous feedback confirmed that the whole of France condemned such remarks. The FFF believes that the unanimous indignation is enough to condemn such behaviour.”
