David Warner is already being targeted by multiple franchises ahead of the 2022 IPL auction, with his seven-year stint at SRH certain to end.

David Warner’s removal as captain and his eventual snub from the playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been one of the most shocking incidents of the ongoing IPL 2021. The Australian opener had not only been a loyal servant of the franchise but also remains one of the finest overseas players to grace the IPL league in its history. Such has been his impact on the league that hardly anyone could see the developments from this season coming.

David Warner Approached By Multiple Franchises Before IPL 2022 Mega Auction

With the bat, David Warner had a rare bad IPL campaign in 2021 as he scored just 195 runs in eight games at a below-par average of 24.47. Since joining SRH in 2014, David Warner has crossed the 500 run-mark every season before the current campaign and arguably been the most consistent player in the league.

However, such is David Warner’s stature in the limited-overs format, he should still attract a big amount for himself in next season’s mega-auction. In fact, a report claims that the Australian opener has already been approached by multiple teams ahead of IPL 2022. It is believed that franchises have been shocked by SRH’s treatment of David Warner and want to pounce on the opportunity to sign him.

The report further states that Tom Moody aspires to become Team India’s coach after Ravi Shastri’s exit. A social media post by David Warner has almost confirmed he will be leaving the franchise.

Expressing his gratitude towards the fans, the ex-SRH skipper wrote, “Thank You for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100%. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all!!”

The opener is the only player in IPL history to win the Orange cap three times. He also led SRH to its first IPL title in 2016. He missed IPL 2019 because of his ban being imposed for the Sandpaper Gate ball-tampering controversy.

David Warner Has Played A Key Role In Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Success

David Warner’s fall from grace in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been quite drastic. From winning the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) title with the franchise to helping them qualify for playoffs the following seasons, the Australian opener has played a key role in the team’s success.

David Warner has been SRH’s star opener for a number of years, having carried the weight of a fragile middle order single-handedly. He was the Orange Cap winner in 2015, 2017, and 2019, having amassed 4014 runs in 95 games for the franchise at a whopping average of 49.56 and striking at 142.59.  He is still the IPL’s 5th highest scorer having amassed 5449 runs in 150 games averaging 41.59 with 4 tons and 50 fifties. He has hit the maximum number of the fifties in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians (MI) ended their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign on a high as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 42 runs in Match 55 in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav hammered 84 and 82 respectively and set up MI’s win.

Manish Pandey stayed unbeaten on 69 off 41 balls. Towards the end, he was struggling with what seemed to be cramps. But his knock only reduced the margin of the defeat. Mumbai, on the other hand, couldn’t achieve the unthinkable, which means they finish the league stage in fifth place, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders on the basis of net run rate.

Brief Scores: Mumbai Indians 235/9 (Ishan Kishan 84, Suryakumar Yadav 82; Jason Holder 4/52) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 193/8 (Manish Pandey 69, Jason Roy 34; Jasprit Bumrah 2/39) by 42 runs.
