Last night, WWE have issued a statement as an announcement to release total eight superstars from the roster and performers which include some of the former champions. The statement only mentions that they were released. No apparent reasons or details were given for the same. The names appearing on the list were mostly expected and no shocking names appeared on the list. Here’s the official statement:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstars Damien Sandow, King Barrett, Santino Marella, Cameron, Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, El Torito and Zeb Colter as of today, Friday, May 6, 2016. WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.”
It is obviously bad to see that a talent like Wade Barrett and Sandow included the list, though the rumors of them getting released from the company turned to be evident by this. Barrett had created a tremendous impact upon arriving at the company with one of the greatest factions in WWE history i.e. “The Nexus.” He main events consecutive pay-per-views after that. After that, in these years, he went on to become a five-time Intercontinental champion. He had some other gimmicks like Barrett barrage or “bad news Barrett” but nothing could take him back to the main event scene ever. Where it was thought that winning the King of the Ring 2015, will boost his career it turned to be disastrous for him.
Barrett has already accepted the fact that he was planning to end his time with the company “a few weeks early.” He wrote on Twitter:

Sandow was also a popular superstar among the fans after he received the gimmick of being The Mizdow. He also became the Money in the Bank contract winner, in the year 2013 whereas Hornswoggle, over the years had given us some of the hilarious moments in WWE.
