Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg who is a former three times WWE World champion and a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion recently talked about his match against The Undertaker that took place at the Super Showdown pay per view event of 2019. He said it was a badly missed opportunity.

WWE always book some really good matches on paper for their Saudi shows. In almost every event they book at least one dream match that never happened before. On the previous years, they booked 50 Man Royal Rumble match, something that never happened before.

Goldberg Looks Back At His Match Against Undertaker From Super Showdown 2019

Except of that there were more dream matches like Brothers of Destruction vs D Generation X. The match was a huge flop because all of the wrestlers where past their 50s and they could not deliver anything compared to what they could do 15 years back. But it was a dream match on paper, and it was enough to sell tickets.

The 2019 Super Showdown event of the WWE was no different. It had a stacked match card. It definitely featured some amazing matches on paper including the likes of a 51 man Battle Royal which was of course women by the local boy Mansoor, and of course there was Triple H vs Randy Orton, a feud that is considered as one of the best feuds in the history of professional wrestling.

There were also great matches like Bobby Lashley vs Braun Strowman, Finn Balor vs Andrade. All of these images looked excellent on paper, and they were enough to sell all the tickets.

And of course, there was the infamous main event between Goldberg and the Undertaker. A match that is considered as one of the worst matches in the history of professional wrestling. As mentioned above, this dream match was booked just to sell tickets.

Unfortunately, both wrestlers were terribly out of shape since both of them were past their 50s. And the weather of Saudi Arabia was another thing to keep them low. Nobody was expecting anything huge from these two individuals either. And they failed, failed miserably. The match was full of botches. It was a huge embarrassment for both of the individuals.

Goldberg who is a former three times WWE World champion and a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion recently appeared on the Pat McAfee show where he talked about his match against the Undertaker that took place at the Super Showdown pay per view event of 2019. He said;

“You know, I’d been out for a while, and your routine, you have a routine as a punter, everybody’s got a routine, right, so I kinda forgot my routine. But I remembered the headbutt, so on the way out, I headbutted the door, and man, I don’t know where I am after that. I have no idea what’s going on. And I’m kinda getting to the ring and then we’ve got the spot where he moves and I hit the turnbuckle.

“Well I didn’t go out and look at the turnbuckle beforehand, and it was a different setup than what we normally would have at RAW or SmackDown. And yeah I took that one. I try to take things as realistic as possible, right? So I took it wrong, and let’s just say I got another concussion right there and opened myself up pretty good.

“The referee, I remember, he came up to me ten, fifteen times during that match, ‘Hey, how ya doing?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m good, I’m good.’ And then by the time he’d walk away, I’d go, oh man, I don’t know what’s going on. So it was a different answer every time, and the fact is that I never should have done what I did.

“But I did, I tried to go through with it, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a debacle. It’s a wonder that we both didn’t get smashed during that match. It was one of those, a very bad missed opportunity but hey, at the end of the day, I was just trying to provide a better show for everybody else.”
