It’s official now, despite giving Manchester United FA Cup few days ago, United manager van Gaal has been sacked by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

The dutchman’s tenure as manager of Manchester United is now over while Jose Mourinho, the former Chelsea manager, waiting in the wings.

Just two days after helping his side to FA Cup win, van Gaal has paid the ultimate price for an underwhelming season, which witnessed a group stage exit from the Champions League and a fifth-place finish Premier League.

However, it has emerged that van Gaal’s heavy-handed process of management has actually done the most damage.

The 64-year-old Dutchman lost the respect of the Old Trafford dressing room in such a way that, even if a top four finish had been achieved, he would not have completed the final year of his three-year contract.

Despite splashing out over £250million following his appointment in summer 2014, LVG managed only a fifth-placed finish this season, missing out on Champions League qualification for the second time in three years.

According to British media, van Gaal has been sacked as manager during a morning meeting at the club’s Carrington training ground.

It is believed that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward informed the news to the 64-year-old, with assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg, goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek and performance analyst Max Rekkers also have to leave Old Trafford with immediate effect.

Reports say, Jose Mourinho is currently holding talks with United hierarchy to replace Van Gaal as manager on a three-year deal.

van Gaal was seen at Manchester United’s training ground on Monday morning amid intense and enduring speculation over his future.

After a frustrating season in terms ofstyle and substance at Old Trafford, a change appears imminent as Mourinho prepares for a return to management.

Before the celebrations had even subsided at Wembley on Saturday, Manchester United’s FA Cup triump was being submerged by latest reports that claimed van Gaal was to be replaced by the former Chelsea boss very soon.

Old Trafford hierarchy have always fimly refused to comment on rumours about their managerial situation.

Van Gaal stood confident enough when asked about his position in the post-match press conference at Wembley, but reignited speculation on Sunday by informing a reporter outside the team hotel that “it’s over”.

The brevity of the comment meant it was not immediately clear whether that meant the former Holland manager had been told his time at United was at an end, although his situation could soon become clearer.
