As India wrapped up the series with a 7-wicket win against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala, let’s look at some relevant numbers.
Unbeaten streak continues:
India’s winning streak continues for 11 matches now. The last time they lost a T20I match was against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. It’s the longest winning streak for them in any format. However, they remained unbeaten in 11 T20Is once before- from December 2019 to December 2020 but one of them ended as no-result.
Among test-playing countries, only Afghanistan are ahead of them as they won 12 consecutive games from February 2018 to September 2019. Other than that, Romania’s 12-match winning streak is still going on.

Head to head:
It was India’s 16th win against Sri Lanka in the shortest format which is the joint-most wins by any team against one opponent. Both teams faced each other on 24 occasions in which Sri Lanka could win only 7 games while one game ended on no-result. Pakistan also won 16 games against Zimbabwe in this format.
Pakistan dominated this list as they also won 15 games each New Zealand and West Indies. As far as India is concerned, Australia and West Indies are their next favorite opponents, as India won 13 games each against both of them.
Rohit Sharma vs Dushmantha Chameera:
On Saturday, Dushmantha Chameera dismissed Rohit Sharma for the 5th time in the T20Is. In their head to head battle, Rohit Sharma faced his 26 deliveries and scored 32 runs with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
However, it’s quite contrasting numbers in the other formats between the two as Rohit Sharma dominated the battle in ODIs and Tests. In ODIs, Chameera delivered him 44 deliveries and conceded 48 runs without any dismissal. Similarly in Tests, he delivered 22 balls against him but couldn’t dismiss him even once.

Most capped player:
As Rohit Sharma walked out for the toss in the second match, he became the joint-most capped player in T20I cricket. It was the 124th match for him in the shortest record which equaled the record of Shoaib Malik. Mohammad Hafeez (119), Eoin Morgan (115), Mahmudullah (113) are next on the list.
Rohit Sharma made his T20I debut against England in Durban in 2007.
Catch it, Rohit:
Also, Rohit Sharma has become the first Indian player to take 50 catches in T20I matches. He achieved this feat when Chandimal chipped the ball in the air towards short extra-cover off the bowling of Bumrah and Rohit grabbed it diving forward. Overall he became 4th fielder to achieve this feat- David Miller (69), Martin Guptill (64), Shoaib Malik (50) are the others to join this club before.
