The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly hailed Virat Kohli on the occasion of his landmark 100th Test match as he called it a special milestone for the 33-year and he also wished him greater achievements in the future.
On Friday, Virat Kohli entered into this exclusive club as he became the 12th Indian player to reach the landmark. Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma are others in the exclusive list.

“Virat Kohli still has time to achieve greater milestones”
Speaking to BCCI.TV, Sourav Ganguly lauded his career as he wishes that Kohli will achieve many more heights in the rest of his career.
“It’s a huge landmark in Indian cricket, playing 100 Test matches is something that you dream of when you start playing cricket for your country. It’s a great moment for Virat, it’s momentous for Indian cricket,” Sourav Ganguly said.
Ganguly further added that having himself played more than 100 tests, he can understand the hard work behind Virat’s journey.

“I have personally been in that 100 Test match situation and I realise, how momentous and how humongous the occasion can be. Virat has had a great journey, exceptional achievements, starting 11 years ago.
“On behalf of the BCCI and also as a former captain who has played 100 Tests, I wish him all the best. He has had a fantastic career. He still has time to achieve greater milestones,” added the BCCI president.
Notable that Ganguly and Kohli hadn’t had great relations of late as Kohli publicly showed disagreements over Ganguly’s statement. Ahead of the South Africa tour, Virat Kohli was sacked as ODI captain. Then he immediately stepped down from test captaincy after losing the test series against South Africa.
Kohli hasn’t scored a hundred since November 2019 and his numbers haven’t been great of late. Since Jan 2021, he scored runs with an average of 31.31 in Test Cricket and scored just 5 fifties in the meantime.
Ganguly himself represented India in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs.
