The rivalries on WWE Smackdown targeting Wrestlemania Backlash matches will get amped up, this week starting with the tag team title unification matchup. For the second week in a row, Team RK-Bro will be appearing on the blue brand to have some more confrontations with The Usos.
The ongoing angle with Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn will also continue as it will produce the possible main event match of the evening in the form of a Lumberjack Match. Also, the 2022 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Winner will be in action on the show that takes place at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York.
2022 WWE UK Tour: Interesting Raw Vs. Smackdown Match Announced
Last week, it was confirmed that WWE Raw Tag Team Titles will be unified with WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles, next month during the Wrestlemania Backlash PLE. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns sent SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos to RAW so the title match unification challenge could be made, official in order to unify the titles.
Then on WWE Smackdown on FOX, Randy Orton and Riddle confronted Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso and accepted the challenge after which WWE confirmed the Winners Take All Title Unification Match for WrestleMania Backlash in May. It was also announced that the winners of the match will be called the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.
In more update to the situation, a vignette has been released for the latest episode of WWE Smackdown where it was noted that the ongoing rivalry between the two top tag team champions will continue. No particular segment has been announced but they are likely to share the same ring to get into physical confrontations.
Will WWE Raw/Smackdown Rosters Be Combined Amid Title Unifications?
WWE SmackDown will also feature Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn in a Lumberjack Match. Last week saw McIntyre face Zayn in a rematch from the previous week and that ended in a Count-Out due to Zayn escaping through the crowd. The outcome was no different, the next time around but he ran into WWE Official Adam Peace backstage. Pearce informed him that he will be unable to run next week because there will be Lumberjacks surrounding the ring.
WWE Smackdown Preview (22/04/22): Madcap Moss vs. Angel
Madcap Moss vs. Angel of the Los Lotharios tag team has also been announced. Moss has been separated from Happy Baron Corbin on WWE SmackDown, two weeks ago. The 2022 Andre the Giant memorial battle royal winner also cut a promo about how he’s moving on.
Moss then went on to defeat Humberto of Los Lotharios, which led to Angel yelling at his cousin after the match. This was possibly a hint of the duo getting split up in the near future. WWE also later announced Angel vs. Moss for this week.
Although nothing is confirmed, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey should be back on this week’s WWE SmackDown. Both these two top WWE Superstars did not appear, last week for unknown reasons. But the WWE Events website and the host arena website have Rousey and Reigns scheduled to appear, tonight.
A dual taping is expected for WWE Smackdown since the entire roster will be flying to the United Kingdom, next week by this time. The WWE Events website also has Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair listed for a possible dark match. The arena has two more RAW Superstars advertised in the form of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
