In one of the most shocking cricket matches of the year, Nepal U-19 Women’s team were bowled out for just 8 runs in the ongoing U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier against the UAE on Saturday (June 3).

In their previous outing, Nepal had dismissed Qatar for a paltry total of 38 after scoring 117 runs. However, the young stars found themselves on the wrong side of the result just few hours later as UAE blew them away.

The game between Nepal U-19 Women’s team and their UAE counterpart lasted for only 9.2 overs. With Nepal managing to score only 8 runs, not a single batter managed to get to double-digit mark during the bizarre contest.

Disastrous batting performance by Nepal U-19 Women’s Team:

Batting first, Nepal’s innings lasted for only 8.1 overs. Six of their batters could not even open their accounts as Nepal endured a disastrous and humiliating outing against UAE.

Nepal did not take long to realise that their decision to bat first after winning the toss was wrong. Half of the team was back in pavilion with just 2 runs on the board as three out of the top five batters failed to get off the mark.

Sneha Mahara’s three runs off 10 balls was the highest individual score from the Nepal side while Maneesha Rana scored two. Apart from them, only three other batters managed to open their accounts as they contributed a solitary run each.

For UAE, off-spinner Mahika Gaur was the best performer with the ball. After opening the bowling for her team, she finished the match with stunning figures of 5 wickets for just 2 runs. She also bowled two maiden overs.

Gaur’s bowling partner Indhuja Nandkumar had a good outing too. She picked up 3 wickets while giving away only 6 runs in her quota of 4 overs. Samaira Dharnidharka also picked up 1 wicket.

Chasing 9 for the win, UAE openers, captain Theertha Satish and Lavanya Keny scored 8 off the first over from Anu Kadayat before a single off Shristi Jaisi helped them cross the finishing line with as many as 113 balls and ten wickets to spare.
