Manchester City’s headline summer signing Erling Haaland was once again the hero for his new club after helping them to a Champions League win over his former side Borussia Dortmund. The striker scored an absolute stunner to complete a comeback after Jude Bellingham had put the visitors in front. City center-back John Stones was also on the score sheet in some fashion after netting the equalizer.
However, Haaland’s exploits didn’t end there as he once again grabbed the headlines in his post match presser. The striker replied in the most hilarious manner after being asked about the claims made by Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck about knowing the formula to stop him. Haaland’s response left Stones in stiches as he couldn’t stop his laughter.

Erling Haaland gives befitting reply to Schlotterbeck’s pre-match comments over stopping him
Erling Haaland has looked the same in his new Manchester City shirt from his Dortmund days where he netted 86 goals in 89 games. The 22-year-old has already reached double figures for this season, scoring 13 goals in 9 games so far. He was on target against his former side as well, who took the lead against City through a Jude Bellingham header.
However, goals from Stones and Haaland in the last ten minutes of the game helped City come from behind and win the second group game of their Champions League campaign. Both scored brilliant goals as the defenders fired a bullet from outside of the box, whereas Haaland’s acrobatics were a sight to see when he scored the winner.
In his post match interview with BT Sport, Erling Haaland had some fun with his former teammate Nico Schlotterbeck who ahead of the game was confident of stopping the striker. On being asked by the reporter what was his reaction to Dortmund claiming to know the plan to contain him, Haaland replied: “They didn’t stop me, I scored.”
"Two wonderful goals today. Mine was a bit better honestly." ?

Schlotterbeck had already began the banter before the game kicked-off after he had said: “I know how to stop Erling Haaland. We have to stop them as a whole, Erling is the least of our problems.”
The Norwegian didn’t stop there as he further claimed his goal was better than his teammate John Stone’s strike which went in like a fireball. “Two wonderful goals today. Mine was a bit better honestly,” said the striker.
City manager Pep Guardiola too compared his summer recruit’s goal to Barca legend Johan Cruyff’s. Haaland’s strike did resemble to the iconic goal Cruyff had scored for the Catalans against Atletico Madrid. Guardiola said:
“What a goal. I remember a long time ago in Barcelona Johan Cruyff scored one quite similar against Atletico Madrid. It’s nice Erling [Haaland] emulated Johan Cruyff. Maybe the people who know me know the influence of Cruyff in my life as a person, mentor and manager. Years ago, he scored in Camp Nou and scored a goal v Atleti, it was quite similar to Haaland and the moment he scored it I felt Cruyff, it was quite similar.”
Haaland seems to be enjoying his life in the blue part of the Manchester after already scoring 13 goals. Guardiola and City’s hopes will definitely be banking on the youngster to lead them to Champions League glory this season. The striker too looks determined to win the European competition with his new team.
