IND VS AUS 2023: Australian team is trailing in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) by 0-2 against India. Visitors skipper Pat Cummins has left the squad and returned back to his home soil due to his mother’s illness. Mitchell Starc is set to replace Cummins for the third test match. Starc is happy with his injury recovery, he missed the first two test matches due to a finger injury.

Mitchell Starc is still feeling the discomfort in his injured finger but he is preparing for his return in the next test match-
“It’s good enough,”
“There’s going to be a level of discomfort… I don’t think it is going to be 100% for a little while, but the ball is coming out quite nicely and I feel like I’m pretty much at full tilt,” the left arm pacer said of his finger.
The 33-year-old Starc continues to recover from a finger injury, he was hit by the ball on the tip of his left-hand middle finger against South Africa in MCG in December last year.
“It’s more the discomfort of the joint being restricted having been in a splint for six weeks and still having to be in a splint for another couple of weeks yet. That’s probably the only part – dealing with the discomfort of it, getting the mobility back into it,” he further added.
“That’ll come over the next couple of weeks and it’s progressed again, it’s a progression each day I bowl. It’s not a concern for me, the comfort levels – it’s doing what I need it to do to be available to play,” said Starc.
Australia will be hoping for the tall fast bowler to return to the squad for the third test match, Josh Hazlewood has also been ruled out of the rest of the series due to injury. All-rounder Cameroon Green and the tall pacer are set to lead the Australian pace attack for the rest of the series.

“It wouldn’t be the first Test match I’ve played in some sort of discomfort. If I only played when I was at 100%, I would have only played five or ten Tests. I’m happy with where it’s at and I’ve built up enough of a pain threshold to deal with that stuff over the last 10 or 12 years,” said the Australian speedster.
The Baggy Greens need to avoid a clean sweep in the ongoing BGT series, to qualify for the World Test Champions (WTC) final. India will take on Australia in the next test match at Indore on 1st March 2023.
