Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli share a great compadre between themselves, they together took Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for two IPL Finals, and in November 2021 the star South African batter retired from all formats of the game.

In a recent interview of Kohli on Devilliers’ YouTube channel called ‘ThreeSixty’, the former Proteas player played a ‘meme video’ which he and Kohli watched and vibed together over 300 hundred times while sitting in the RCB’s team bus.

De Villiers began playing in the IPL in the very inaugural season (2008). For the first three seasons, he played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) before being signed up by RCB. He played 156 games for the Bengaluru-based outfit and scored an impressive 4,491 runs with the help of 2 centuries and 37 fifties.

While Ace Indian batter is currently playing the IND vs AUS ODI series, the third game and decider as the series is levelled at 1-1 will be played on March 22 at Chennai, whereas Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will kick off on 31st March, RCB will play their first game against Mumbai Indian (MI) at Bengaluru, Faf du Plessis will be the leading the Bengaluru based side in IPL 16.

While, in the last edition of IPL, de Villiers and Chris Gayle became the first two inductees in the RCB’s  Hall of Fame. The franchise confirmed the news in May 2022. The Banglore-based club are also the first franchise in IPL to launch a Hall of Fame. The Bengaluru-based franchise posted a video on Twitter where de Villiers and Gayle interacted with the RCB squad via video conferencing. The video starts with the RCB players giving a round of applause to the legendary duo.

The two talismans raised the batting standards in the IPL year after year and shattered numerous records along the way. Former Proteas wicketkeeper-batter AB de Villiers retired from all forms of cricket after IPL 2021, and the 39-year-old retired from all forms of cricket in November 2021, making the 2021 season of the IPL his last IPL season. He played seven matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 and smashed 207 runs at a strike rate of 164.28 averaging 51.75.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the only three sides who are playing in the league since the inaugural season and are yet to win it. Royal Challengers Bangalore has been one of the most consistent sides in the last three years reaching the playoffs but being unable to get through the final hurdle.
