As Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is around the corner, Delhi Capitals (DC) are gearing up for the event, DC’s Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly has praised their opener batter, Prithvi Shaw and claimed that he is ready to play for India.
While, the Delhi-based side will be looking to win the title this time, in the past 15 editions they only once reached finals, and this time with salt added to their wounds, Rishabh Pant, their regular skipper is unavailable for the season due to injuries.

Former Indian skipper thinks Rohit and selectors have an eye on Shaw-
“I think Prithvi Shaw is ready to play for India,” Ganguly said.
“Whether he gets an opportunity will depend on slots. I am sure Rohit Sharma and the selectors have a close eye on him. He is a good player and ready,” stated Ganguly in an interview with TOI.
Shaw is playing for DC since 2018, and is now an integral and very important member of the team, in IPL 2022, he had a decent outing. In 10 games, he scored 283 runs with the help of 2 fifties and a strike rate of over 152. In the 5 seasons of IPL that he has played so far, the 23-year-old has never managed to touch the 500-run mark.
The right-handed batter is also the U-19 World Cup prodigy alongside Shubman Gill, under Shaw India lifted the 2018 U-19 WC title by beating Australia in the finals in New Zealand. Prithvi made his debut in the senior team in the very same year after winning the junior World Cup, he has represented Men in Blue in all formats and has been recently included in the T20I squad against the New Zealand series, but didn’t play any game. While he last played for team India in 2021.

He has crossed the 400-run mark in his IPL career just once. With DC eyeing their first-ever IPL title this year, they will be hoping that their star opener delivers with the bat. And Ponting is confident of a good performance from the right-handed batsman.
