Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly feels that the players in the lineup for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final will cope with the workload, as Team India will play the title match just after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 ends on May 28, while WTC Final will be played on June 7 in England.
Ganguly, who will be part of Delhi Capitals as Director of Cricket, spoke exclusively to the Times of India, about the Indian national cricket team.

The Ex-Indian skipper expressed his thoughts on WTC Final-
‘I think players should be fine. I don’t see a problem. Yes, there’s a lot of cricket. The scheduling is like that. That’s the way it is. Players will play. I really don’t see a problem. When it comes to the World Test Championship final, they anyway get 10-day breaks after IPL. I think they will manage,” said Ganguly.
Ganguly is currently part of the DC preseason camp in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. David Warner will lead Delhi Capitals in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant, who will miss out due to an injury. Capitals will get their campaign underway on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants.
“It’s a challenge to prepare the international Future Tours Programme (FTP). But I don’t think you can stop leagues from going around the world. Test cricket will always be the best format of the game. I don’t see any league being as important as the WTC final,” he further added.

Frequent injuries have been the core problem of Team India in big tournaments. They played the T20 World Cup 2022 without the likes of their star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah and valuable all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. While in the upcoming WTC 2023 Final From the like of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Bumrah are already doubtful about the events.
It will be interesting to see the playing XI with which Team India will go for the WTC Final 2023 at Oval against the Australia, surely there will be some changes from the last test match played at Ahmedabad, as both the surface are different, while Asian Giants lost the 2021 WTC Final against New Zealand at Southampton.
