Cricket coach Narendra Shah in Uttarakhand tried to end his life by consuming poison after an audio clip circulated containing him abusing the women cricketers surfaced, police said. Earlier, Narendra Shah was removed from the post of co-convenor of women’s cricket in the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand following the allegation.
On March 24, he tried to end his life by consuming poison after the audio clips went viral. He was immediately admitted to the hospital where his condition is now stated to be stable. The police said that they will interrogate him after his health gets stable.

According to the Dehradun police, the voice in the audio clip is that of Narendra Shah, who was heard speaking dirty to a girl cricketer. As for safety, the girl’s identity has been guarded secret but according to the inside reports it is believed she is a minor who hails from Uttarakhand and resides in Dehradun for cricket training and education.
The officers said some other girls have also made similar complaints against Shah, and the police are looking into the matter. A case has been lodged against Narendra Shah, following a complaint from the father of a woman who trained at his cricket academy. Following the allegations, he was removed from the co-convenor post.
“Taking cognizance of the media reports about the viral audio clip, the apex body of the state’s cricket association on Saturday convened a virtual meeting and decided to remove Narendra Shah from the post of co-convenor of the women’s cricket.” A source from Uttarakhand Cricket board said
The SP said that considering the complaint, a case was registered against the coach in Nehru Colony police station under section 7/8 of the POCSO Act, section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and SC ST Act.
Uttarakhand Cricket Association Was Under A Scanner In 2022, Following Financial Transactions During COVID
Earlier in 2022, the Uttarakhand cricket association‘s financial transactions of over ₹ 1.74 crores for food and catering including ₹ 35 lakhs for bananas, ₹ 49.5 lakhs in daily allowances, and ₹ 11 crores spent during the COVID lockdown came under a scanner after a complaint registered against the top official of the cricket board.
“Allegations have been leveled against the Cricket association that money was taken for selection and violence. An FIR was registered and a probe is underway. We are collecting evidence and will take action. Various angles including transactions of money to be probed”
On the other hand, the Uttarakhand cricket team made a good run to make it to the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy before losing out to Karnataka by innings and 281 runs in a one-sided encounter.
