Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed his disappointment over Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner’s batting against Rajasthan Royals in their third game of the season. Chopra funnily remarked that Delhi hasn’t opened their account in the points table as they haven’t done KYC  yet.

Delhi Capitals suffered their third straight defeat in the league stage as they faced a 57-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals. Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra analyzed Delhi’s concern after their poor show against Rajasthan.

“There were expectations that Delhi would register their first win and open their account. But they haven’t gotten their KYC done yet. The account does not open without KYC these days,” in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said.

With 200 runs to chase, Delhi Capitals made a disastrous start to their innings losing out Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey in the first over, as Trent Boult breathed fire with the new ball for Rajasthan Royals putting Delhi Capitals straight away on the back foot. Aakash Chopra recalled the memories of Trent Boult’s phenomenal bowling for the Mumbai Indians in 2019

“Prithvi Shaw was dismissed in the first over itself and Manish Pandey right after him. If we see from 2019, Trent Boult has picked up 19 wickets in the first over itself. He is going at a different level,” he said further.

The New Zealander pacer has been providing the crucial breakthrough for the Rajasthan side as he came up in the middle over to dismiss hard-hitting Lalit Yadav and Trent Boult was equally impressive in the first match as he dismissed Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal with the new ball in hand.

Aakash Chopra was surprised by the approach of Capitals skipper David Warner as the Australian opener could not accelerate at any stage of the innings in the run chase.

“Warner kept standing at one end, was playing at a run-a-ball. Why was he doing that? I have got no idea. I understand that wickets were falling from the other end but we are talking about David Warner and not a kid”.

The Warner-led side made a poor start to their campaign as they suffered three losses in three games. Though the Australian opener scored 65 runs it came at a poor strike rate of less than 120.

David Warner Has That Ability – Aakash Chopra

Though David Warner becomes the first overseas player to score 6000 runs in IPL by scoring a half-century against Rajasthan Royals. The 36-year-old hits only 7 fours and failed to hit a single six in the innings which lasted for 19 overs.

“David Warner has that ability. He has scored more than 6000 IPL runs and more than 60 fifties, including yesterday’s half-century. It seemed he will take the attack to the opposition but it didn’t happen,” Aakash Chopra added.

Delhi Capitals will take on five-time champions Mumbai Indians in their second home game at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 11. They will look to turn around things quickly in the tournament.
