Neymar liked two social media postings indicating that his time at Paris Saint-Germain may be coming to an end, just 24 hours after problems ensued at the club. PSG’s latest Ligue 1 title is still up in the air following an ugly 3-1 defeat to Lorient on the weekend, with Kylian Mbappe’s bizarre goal serving as the sole saving grace.

The Parc des Princes seemed to be in disarray in the days following the game, with Lionel Messi leaving for Saudi Arabia just hours after the defeat. As a result of his trip to the Middle East, the club suspended him from training and playing for the next two weeks, which he would undoubtedly spend in Saudi Arabia.

Neymar likes two social media posts slamming PSG as he hints at summer exit

Messi’s suspension fueled speculation that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner would not be returning to Paris after this season, which was already in doubt. Fans gathered outside the club’s headquarters to protest against the 35-year-old, screaming and calling him various derogatory names.

But he wasn’t the only one, with throngs of fans gathered outside Neymar’s house to chant for the Brazilian to ‘get out’. The Brazilian wrote on social media after the ultras left, “They’ve just left my door”. Neymar has not played for PSG since February, when he suffered an injury in a 4-3 win against Lille.

And it appears he is taking those words to heart, with fans noticing his social media activity, first liking a post that described PSG as a ‘small club with a minimal history.’ Reports have revealed that Neymar’s future, as well as that of France star Kylian Mbappe, is set to be scrutinised as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi oversees a shift in strategy.

This comes on top of the club no longer prioritising a new contract for Messi, who is out of contract this summer, with fans expressing their displeasure. Neymar’s future with the Parisiens has long been in doubt, with rumours claiming that Kylian Mbappe pushed for his sale as part of a contract extension last summer.

The former Barcelona forward has failed to live up to expectations since becoming the club’s most expensive player when he joined for £198 million in 2017. Injuries and poor form have meant that the money they invested hasn’t been well spent, especially given their ultimate ambition of winning the Champions League.

They may tough to unload him in the summer, given the enormous earnings he gets at the club and would demand elsewhere. But he’s not helping his case by liking a post of him and Messi embracing during their Barcelona days, with the caption, “I know you were thinking the same thing. They were VERY happy at that time!”

The Les Parisiens appear to prefer new players and French talents over veteran big-name stars. This means that, despite reports of Premier League interest, Mbappe is unlikely to leave, although Neymar, 31, could leave. Despite their enormous wealth, particularly in comparison to the rest of the French teams, they haven’t dominated in the same manner as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
