Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is not impressed by the selection of their new head coach Grant Bradburn as the Pakistan national team coach for the next two years. The former New Zealand cricketer was associated with Pakistan cricket for more than three years before resigning in 2021.
Grant Bradburn was appointed as the new head coach of the Pakistan men’s team. The 56-year-old has taken over the hat of head coach with two major assignments for the Men in Green with Asia Cup and ODI World Cup later this year.
Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja feels that it is not fair for their Pakistan cricket coaches and wants the PCB to respect the coaches from the country.
“It is an injustice to not make use of Pakistani coaches. If you don’t want to hire, then at least give respect to them. You can’t say they do politics and are useless,” Ramiz Raja said.

Earlier, PCB chairman Najam Sethi said that local coaches very not professional in their jobs, as they may do favouritism in the team selection stating that as the culture in the country
“Local coaches are not professional coaches. Superstars in Pakistan can’t be coaching players, a foreign coach won’t do nepotism and favouritism but our local coaches do that because it’s in our culture,” Sethi had said.
Grant Bradburn is not new to the Pakistan setup as he was the fielding coach of the Pakistan Team from 2018 to 2021 and served as the head of High-Performance Coaching at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, Pakistan.
Respect Your System And Coaches – Ramiz Raja To PCB
Ramiz Raja slammed PCB’s decision to select Bradburn as the head coach stating that he has no experience in leading the team and wants the cricket board to respect the coaches and system in the country and feels a change in skin colour doesn’t mean he would not do any politics in team selection.
“They [PCB] have selected a head coach, who has no experience anywhere else in the cricket circuit. PCB has handed him our whole team, just because his skin color is different than ours, so they believe he won’t do any politics. A person with a low-level mindset can think like that,” he said.

“Respect your system and coaches. Just because, if the coach has the same skin color as yours, don’t assume he would do politics,” Ramiz Raja concluded
Pakistan is scheduled to play in a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan which acts as preparation for the side going into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup later in India. The Men in Green will look to give themselves the best chance to perform in the Sub continent’s wickets as they have a good team coming into the World Cup.
