Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has plans in place for his squad next season.

After missing out on the Champions League qualification, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is already planning for the next season. Liverpool will participate in the Europa League next season thanks to Manchester United’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Thursday night, which guaranteed them the last slot in the Premier League’s top four.

On the last day of the season on Sunday, the Reds must play a dead rubber game against a Southampton team that has already been relegated. Liverpool are anticipated to make many significant acquisitions this summer, and Klopp will be eager to move on from the current season as soon as possible.

Klopp has plans in place for Fabio Carvalho after not having a ‘best year’

James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Roberto Firmino are among the players who will leave Liverpool at the end of the current campaign as the Reds plan a squad refresh and an influx of young legs. And Klopp has further revealed that Fabio Carvalho, 20, who joined the Reds last year in a £7.7 million transfer from Fulham, is another youngster who may be leaving Anfield this summer.

Carvalho has not started a game for Liverpool in the Premier League since the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in October last year. Moreover, his most recent appearances have been a 2 minute and a 6 minute cameo against Bournemouth and Leicester City, nine games apart. Due to his lack of playing time, Klopp has acknowledged the teenager is likely to be sent out on loan. The German said in his pre-Southampton presser:

“I forgot Fabio Carvalho when I spoke about the young players [before]… I think now just because there is a possibility that maybe Fabio will go on loan, or whatever. We will see that. The thing is, this was not Fabio’s best year in his career, clear, in a young career, but it might’ve been his most important.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio. That’s the truth, because this very talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations. It was OK in the beginning, but it didn’t work out in the end. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career because he trained getting nothing, and for a player you have only one present each week: you line me up, if you don’t do that, take me in the squad.

“It’s my only chance to satisfy a player. If I don’t do that, it’s about the player and how he reacts and his reactions in a row [I] never saw before. Unbelievable. I’m not sure if he goes on loan, or whatever, if we keep him, we will see that.”

Carvalho helped Fulham win the EFL Championship last season by scoring 10 goals in England’s second division, making him one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League. There’s certainly no lack of talent as he was selected for the PFA Team of the Year for the EFL Championship during the previous campaign. A loan, however, might just work out for the youngster who lacks experience at the highest level.
