Indian domestic stalwart Sarfaraz Khan has finally given a message to the Indian selectors and the team management following his snub from the Indian Squad for the West Indies tour. The 25-year-old has scored a truckload of runs in domestic cricket but was once ignored by the Indian selector for the longer format of the game.

The Mumbai batter was one of the prominent names missing from the Indian squad despite performing well in domestic cricket. He has been one of the consistent performers for Mumbai, as he amassed 3505 runs from 37 matches (13 centuries, nine half-centuries) at an average of 79.65.

Taking his Instagram account, Sarfaraz Khan posted highlights of his blistering innings in the Ranji without a caption which proves his disappointment.

The prolific run-scorer scored 556 runs in 6 games in the 2022 season with the help of three centuries and an average of more than 90. Since the 2019-20 season, the Mumbai star has scored a staggering 2970 runs from 26 matches (12 centuries, seven half-centuries) at an average of 106.07.

Many former Cricketers including Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Jaffer, and Aakash Chopra questioned the selectors over the non-selection of Sarfaraz Khan in the team.

Speaking to Sports Today, Sunil Gavaskar was baffled by the selectors’ decision to ignore the Indian batter, as the youngster has been brilliant for Mumbai in domestic cricket.

“Sarfaraz Khan has been scoring at an average of 100 in all past three seasons. What does he have to do to be picked in the squad? He might not be in the XI, but you pick him in the team,” he stated.

“Tell him that his performances are being recognized. Otherwise, stop playing Ranji Trophy. Say, it’s of no use, you just play IPL and think you are good enough for the red-ball game as well,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

With India failing to win a single ICC trophy over the last decade or so, as they failed to cross the knockout stages to win the elusive trophy, many believe that it is the right time to bring new faces into the team, who can take the baton forward for the Indian team, but the team selection for the West Indies tour raised many eyebrows as many top performers were ignored in the team.

Apart from Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Baba Indrajith, and Priyank Panchal were ignored from the squad for the upcoming series, as these players have consistently performed for their domestic team over the last few years,
