India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey heaped praise on the debutant Mukesh Kumar for his brilliant bowling in the tough conditions at The Queen’s Park Oval on the Day 3 of the second test. The Bengal pacer bowled with a lot of disciplines hitting in the right line and length throughout the Day.

Mukesh Kumar picked up his maiden wicket in International cricket as a reward for his consistent bowling on the tough surface in West Indies. Over the years, The Bengal pacer has troubled batsmen in domestic cricket with his line and length and was trying to do the same for the Indian team in West Indies.

Speaking to the media after the end of the Day 3 play in West Indies, Paras Mhambrey hailed Mukesh Kumar for his exceptional bowling on the tough wickets at Queen’s Park and said that the team management is elated with his performance so far and lauded him for swinging the ball with the second new ball which is high-quality stuff to have as new ball bowler.

“I think he bowled very well, Given the conditions and the way he has gone about putting everything behind the ball that is very heartening to see and that is what is expected from him, and from the team management, this is what we wanted. Just to give his best and this is what he has done,” he said.

“I am extremely happy with the progress he has shown from the first ball of the first session he bowled to the second new ball where he showed some signs of moving the new ball it was real quality stuff,” Paras Mhambrey said.

Mukesh Kumar made it into the Indian side following his impressive performance in domestic cricket. In the last four years, he has played a key role in helping Bengal make it to the Ranji final on two occasions. He can be more vital for the Indian team in red-ball cricket with his experience in domestic cricket can come in handy for him in the crunch moments of the game.

Paras Mhambrey feels the first session of the Day 4 will be a crucial one, as they will have some movement with the new ball, and reckons that if they manage to pick up some quick wickets in the first hour then the game becomes wide-open for India and wants the Indian bowlers to bowl at the right line and length to pick up the wickets.

“I think the first session (on Sunday) will be important, Looking at that, I think the first session in the morning and even the first hour is going to be crucial,” he concluded.

“If we pick up a couple of wickets it opens up the match for us and we can take the game forward and see where we are. What we look for from the bowlers is to hit the right areas, show some patience and make the batters play,” Paras Mhambrey added.

West Indies team has done a pretty decent job with the bat so far in the 1st innings, as their team batters tried to apply on the tough pitch in Queen’s Park Oval, as everyone played with a lot of determination to score runs and will look to add some more runs before being bowled out in the 1st innings.
