Following a terrible vehicle accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant is continuing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and showing great progress. The southpaw has been sharing developments on his comeback via social media, but it’s reported that Pant has now moved on to facing 140 kph-plus deliveries at nets at the NCA that exceed 140 kmph.

Pant began accepting throwdowns last month, but in the past two weeks, the pace of the deliveries has only accelerated. He also started keeping wickets with low intensity in the nets at NCA as well.

Rishabh Pant was returning home in Roorkee from Delhi, driving on his own, when near Dehradun, his car veered out of control and caught fire. The cricketer was saved by locals and admitted in a nearby hospital where he was treated for burns and other injuries, and receiving cosmetic surgeries.

Rishabh Pant has been making a fine recovery: Reports

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) had said Pant suffered cuts to his forehead and tore a ligament on his right knee, besides injuring his right wrist, ankle, and toe. He also had abrasion injuries on his back.

“Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with speed excess to 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months,” a source at the NCA told RevSportz.

Pant has no problems at all countering rapid deliveries and feels at ease with minor movements. Additionally, he has begun to keep wickets with less vigor. Larger and quicker body motions are currently out of reach for the 25-year-old, but trainers and medical professionals are optimistic that he will succeed in the coming months.

Pant’s impressive recovery has taken everyone by surprise, especially those who work with him every day.
