Exactly a year after their much-touted debut in WWE, DAMAGE CTRL is back in full force at Summerslam 2023. IYO SKY of the faction has become the new Women’s Champion while Dakota Kai also returned to have a full-fledged reunion at the same event where they first introduced themselves to the WWE Universe as a unit.
In a Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Championship at Summerslam 2023, Bianca Belair defeated Asuka and Charlotte Flair to become the new titleholder. At a point in the match, Bianca hurt her knee and was taken to the back but being a fighting champion, she came back into the match, headed to the top rope, and delivered a 450 Splash on Charlotte to break the Figure Eight Leg Lock on Asuka.
Charlotte then locked in Figure Eight on Bianca when Asuka spat the mist in Charlotte’s face. Bianca then rolled up Asuka to win the Title. However, the winning celebrations couldn’t be stretched, further, as the 2023 Money in the Bank briefcase holder soon came out running into the ring.
SKY attacked Belair’s already-damaged knee with the briefcase leaving her in bad shape. Bayley attacked Asuka as well as Charlotte Flair with the MITB briefcase. Bianca took out Bayley, eventually but IYO took out Bianca with the briefcase.

Dakota Kai returns from injury at Summerslam 2023
Then IYO finally got the win after hitting a moonsault on Bianca to secure a pin-fall over her at Summerslam 2023. Bayley ensured that nobody would interrupt the match. As the new champion’s celebration continued, Dakota Kai also appeared to celebrate with her fellow stablemates.
This was Kai’s first WWE TV appearance in nearly three months after getting sidelined with a torn ACL. It’s not clear whether she’s medically cleared to compete but the return certainly took DAMAGE CTRL’s reunion to a full circle.
Iyo SKY picks up first singles title win on WWE main roster
With this win at Summerslam 2023, IYO SKY finally scored her first singles title win on the main roster in the WWE. Before this week, she did have the opportunity to have a run with the NXT Women’s Championship for 304 days.
On Smackdown, Asuka had been the champion since defeating Belair at WWE Night of Champions back on May 27. Back then, the belt used to be known as just Raw Women’s Championship but it was later reintroduced as the WWE Women’s Championship.
