Pogba

The biggest transfer story of this summer finally came to an end. Paul Pogba has passed the medical at Manchester United. He underwent tests with club doctors in Los Angeles – after flying there from Florida where he was on holiday, reports Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old Juventus midfielder will earn a massive £290,000-a-week at Manchester United after he agreed to a five-year deal. The official announcement may not happen today, it could be tomorrow.

Pogba will wear the No.6 shirt, previously worn by Wes Brown and Jonny Evans.

Manchester United will have to pay a world-record sum of £112m to bring him back to Old Trafford – just four years after letting him go for £800,000.

The mega fee eclipses the £85m Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013.

After his departure from Old Trafford, the Frenchman went on to guidfe Juventus win a hat-trick of Serie A titles and reach the Champions League final to become one of the best midfielders in Europe.

United eventually made Pogba their No.1 transfer target once Jose Mourinho agreed to succeed Louis van Gaal as new manager.

There was a clear development on Thursday evening when multiple sources reported that United are now within touching distance of re-signing the player who left for a small compensation fee when his contract expired in 2012.

Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola’s fees, rumored to be about 20% of the initial sum paid to Juve, must also be paid entirely by United but the finer details of that agreement have not been finalised.

Two of the Dutch agent’s other players, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, have already signed for United this summer.

Mourinho has been on a mission to make some marquee signings as he is all set to begin the challenge of making Manchester United the most successful club in Europe again.
