City clinches a 2-1 victory in Manchester Derby 1

On Saturday, Manchester City clinched a 2-1 victory in the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford. Guardiola succeeded in beating Mourinho in their first Manchester Derby encounter.

On 7 minutes, United’s Pogba took a shot from almost 30-yards away from the goal, which went just over the bar.

In the 15th minute, City opened the scoreline through Belgian attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s goal. Kolarov produced a long ball for Iheanacho which Iheanacho made a headed pass to De Bruyne. De Bruyne snatched the ball after putting behind the hosts’ defender Daley Blind and made no mistake to net the ball.

In the 36th minutes, City doubled their lead through Iheanacho’s goal. Once again De Bruyne beat the hosts’ defenders and took a shot towards the goal which unfortunately hit the bar and went towards Iheanacho. City forward made no mistake to double the scoreline.

In the 42nd minute, hosts made a comeback through Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s score. It was a big mistake from the City’s Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo who made his EPL debut in this match. Due to a collision with fellow defender John Stones, Bravo failed to grab a ball from cross and the ball went straight to the Ibrahimovic which he sent towards the goal.

United, though, could have equalised the scoreline just before the end of the first half as Ibrahimovic got two chances in the injury time, but he failed to utilise those chances.

City totally dominated in the first half until United scored their first goal. But the second half was very entertaining despite no goal being added to the scoreline.

In the second half, United and City had several chances to increase the scoreline but both the teams failed on those chances.

In the 70th minute, United’s goal was declined due to offside. Substitute player Marcus Rashford’s shot took a huge deflection from Ibrahimovic’s leg before entering the goal. During that moment, the Swedish forward was caught in an offside position as a result the goal was declined.

On the other hand, City’s best chance in the 2nd half was at 75 minutes when De Bruyne’s right footed shot hit the goalpost once again.

Going further, United tried hard till the very last moment to make a comeback in the match but failed. Manchester City also tried to extend their lead but they also failed to fulfil their ambition. Hence, the game ended 1-2 in favour of City
