In the round 9 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification from CONMEBOL zone, Brazil thrashed Bolivia by 5-0 while Argentina drew with Peru by 2-2. Also Uruguay clinched an easy victory while Colombia edged Paraguay and Chile lost to Ecuador.
Hosts Brazil thrashed down Bolivia by 5-0. After a horrible defensive blunder by the visitors, Neymar opened the scoreline in 11 minutes. In the 26 minutes, Philippe Coutinho made the scoreline 2-0 for Brazil. After receiving a good pass from Giuliano, Coutinho successfully netted the ball. In the 39 minutes, Filipe Luis extended the lead to 3-0. 5 minutes later, Gabriel Jesus scored Barzil’s 4th goal in the match with the help of Neymar’s splendid pass.
In the 75 minutes, Roberto Firmino added another goal through a header.
Argentina failed to clinch a victory against the hosts Peru despite taking twice lead in the scoreboard. In the 15 minutes, Ramiro Funes Mori put ahead Argentina by 1-0. Peru equalised the scoreline in 58 minutes with the help of Paolo Guerrero’s goal. Gonzalo Higuain once again put ahead the visitors by 2-1 in 77 minutes. In the 84 minutes, Peru’s Christian Cueva’s goal from penalty denied Argentina’s crucial 3 points. Finally, both the teams shared a point each.
On the other hand, hosts Uruguay clinched an easy victory against the 10-man Venezuela and retains at the top spot in the CONMEBOL WC qualifiers’ points table. Uruguay beat the last positioned Venezuela by 3-0. Nicolas Lodeiro opened the scoreline for the hosts in 29 minutes and then Edinson Cavani scored doubled (46’ and 79’) in the second half of the match. Venezuela’s centre back Oswaldo Vizcarrondo was shown red card in 65 minutes after he received second yellow card at that moment. Vizcarrondo was shown first yellow card in the match at 41 minutes.
Colombia edged against the hosts Paraguay through an injury time goal from Edwin Cardona (90’+1’).
2015 and 2016 Copa America champion Chile is now finding hard to qualify in the 2018 FIFA World Cup after suffering an away defeat against Ecuador. Hosts Ecuador beat Chile by 3-0. Manchester United footballer Antonio Valencia scored the first goal for the hosts in 19 minutes. 4 minutes later, Cristian Ramirez scored Ecuador’s second goal of the match. In the opening minute of the second half, Felipe Caicedo added another goal for the hosts.
