Bangladesh’s quest to play the last ODI can be judged by the fact that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had requested the English and Wales Cricket Board asking for a reserve day for the third and final ODI of the series which their counterpart board turned softly, citing logistical reasons.
“The ECB were asked today whether it would be possible to schedule a rain day – we did consider the request. At this late stage, and on a compact tour, it is sadly not possible.
“The majority of our one-day players return to the UK on Thursday and the Test players are already preparing for upcoming Tests next week. We would clearly love to conclude the series and hope to get the game in tomorrow.” Said an ECB spokesman to ESPNcricinfo.
England board has shown its incompetence to agree for a reserve day as in that case they will have less time to prepare for the two-day practise game against the Bangladesh XI.
There is a threat of heavy rains in Chittagong on Wednesday which can blemish the Bangladesh plans of winning the final game and winning the series as well. Bangladesh is quite confident that they can win the final ODI as they have been the impressive side of the two despite losing the first game of the series.
Bangladesh lost the first game after they witnessed an epic fall losing their last 7 wickets in quick succession which eventually lead to a defeat. However, the host team rebounded strongly in the next game preventing a not so big looking target but now the rain has appeared as a spoilsport which can surely ruin Bangladesh plans of winning the series.
Currently, both the teams are in the same place on the podium with a with a win a piece in their account.
