WWE News: Current status of John Cena in WWE after No Mercy PPV 1

As reported earlier, John Cena was absent from this past week’s Smackdown Live. He is scheduled to take hiatus for a couple of months due to hosting the second season of American Grit on Fox television. He is with the WWE crew and production, this week promoting WWE’s partnership with Susan G Komen for breast cancer awareness but will be completely off from TV from next week.
Latest reports suggest that he is not supposed to be back until this year’s end. As per schedule, he will be back in the last week of December at live events during the Christmas & new year season. Meanwhile, he is also advertised for Survivor Series PPV but it is not clear in which capacity he will appear there.
Meanwhile, he has achieved a huge record at the No Mercy PPV despite coming up short in the title match where he failed to tie the record of legendary Ric Flair’s 16th World title reign. Till date, John Cena was holding the record of main-eventing 67 matches in PPV along with Triple H and Undertaker. After No Mercy, he went one step ahead of them who now holds the record of most main event PPV matches in his career.

Although the triple threat match for the WWWE world title has taken place as the opening contest of the night, it was the scheduled main event for the night at No Mercy. By virtue of which he has now main evented in the 68th match.
Here are the top 5 main eventers in the history of WWE.
John Cena – 67 PPV main events (including 6 Royal Rumble matches)
The Undertaker – 67 PPV main events (including 9 Royal Rumble matches)
Triple H – 67 PPV main events (including 6 Royal Rumble matches)
Shawn Michaels – 48 PPV main events (including 10 Royal Rumble matches)
Randy Orton – 42 PPV main events (including 5 Royal Rumble matches)
