In a desperate attempt to put end to his dismal start at Manchester United, Paul Pogba has expressed his desire of playing in an attacking role. The France international returned to Old Trafford in a £89m world-record switch this summer from Juventus but so far, he has failed to justify his huge price tag.
Pogba, who became one of the best players in the world playing in an attacking role in Juventus, has been used as a defensive midfielder by United boss Jose Mourinho. The midfielder has received severe criticism for his dismal performances but now the Frenchman has hinted that he can make a mark in an attacking role. So far, he has scored only one goal in eight outings for the Red Devils.
The midfielder made the claim after playing in a more advanced role for France against Holland in the 2018 World Cup qualifier. Pogba starred for his country in the attacking role and capped off the impressive outing with a stunning winner from outside the box that was enough to secure his country three points against the Netherlands.

‘I try to adapt,’ the France playmaker was quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
‘I am a player who would rather go forward. The coach gave me instructions, I try to follow them.
‘I have to retrieve balls and make defensive efforts. It cost me a bit to play differently, much like Pirlo.
‘I have to play, be there to recover and play more for the team.’
The player would be looking to continue his form when United travel to Anfield to take on arch rivals Liverpool on Monday. The Merseyside club is in sensational form and Pogba will have to play a major role if United want to win at Anfield.
