This is the season of the year when we keep on guessing the name of Undertaker’s Wrestlemania opponent and when he is going to eventually show up. For the past 24 years, we have done it and this year the rumors suggest that the Phenome will be back for the 30th edition of the Royal Rumble PPV. Next year’s Wrestlemania will also mark the 25th time that the Deadman will be making an appearance at the grandest stage of them all.
From the rumor mill, we have been hearing names like John Cena, Goldberg or even Sting as his next Wrestlemania opponents. Amongst of all these names John Cena is the most probable opponent since Undertaker has not collided with the franchise player of the company at Wrestlemania and this due match is supposed to be the send-off match for him. Plus, this was the originally scheduled match at last year’s Wrestlemania which got nixed due to Cena’s shoulder rotator cuff surgery.
But, as always WWE would like to give us a surprise towards us and so Kevin Owens’ name is coming out of nowhere. As per the storyline, Kevin Owens will retain his WWE Universal championship until Royal Rumble. During January, he will drop the title to someone else and which is probably going to happen at the Royal Rumble event.
The Undertaker will return to the Royal Rumble to pick up a feud with Owens from there on. This year’s Royal Rumble is scheduled to take place from taker’s home state of Texas and hence WWE is planning something special for that night.
The idea of letting Owens go against the Undertaker is being discussed in the headquarters of WWE and will get finalize in days to come. However, Undertaker will take the final call with his opponent. Wrestlemania is still a long way to go and hence the planning is supposed to change anytime.
