After a lot of reconsideration by the BCCI, the board bearers have decided to use the DRS System during the five-match test series starting from 9th November.
“We are happy to note that Hawkeye has institutionalised all the recommendations made by BCCI, and we confirm that this improved version of DRS will be used on a trial basis during the forthcoming series against England,” the BCCI president Anurag Thakur said. “Based on the performance of the system and the feedback that we will receive, further continuation in forthcoming series will be decided. We recognise the enhanced role of technology in sport, and BCCI will lead such initiatives in coming days, and enrich the viewer experience.”
India first the DRS System against Sri Lanka in 2008 and it will be first time that India will be playing with all things of DRS which will include Hawk Eye, Sincko, Hot Spot. It is a great move by BCCI to finally show faith in DRS System.
Indian board always reluctant to welcome DRS System after the 2008 series against Sri Lanka where a lot of decisions went against India. But the latest decision will help the Indian team as the ICC representatives made a presentation to BCCI board officials which the Indian board agreed and decided to use in the upcoming test series against England.
This decision of using the DRS system will reduce the mistakes from the umpires. And with spinning tracks for England series and Australia, this step by BCCI will help Indian cricket a lot.
