Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Burnley was a frustrating match for all those connected with Manchester United but it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was arguably left feeling most disappointed by the result of his efforts over the course of the 90 minutes.

The Swedish maverick extended his run of games without a goal to six and his drought of over nine hours is actually his worst spell for over a decade.

Nevertheless, he certainly can’t moan at his teammates for not creating enough chances.

In fact, those who watched the draw with Sean Dyche’s men probably lost count at the amount of attempts Ibrahimovic actually had during the game.

Luckily, that’s what statisticians are for and it turns out the only thing the 35-year-old gained from the match was an unwanted Premier League record.

His 12 shots on goal saw him equal the most from a player in one single game without scoring.

The only other man to do so is ex-Red Devil, Robin van Persie, who endured a similarly frustrating day back in December 2011 during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

That isn’t the only Man United link to this type of record, however, as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney jointly hold the accolade for the most shots in a Premier League match with 13.

The big difference from Ibra’s being they both scored twice in their games against Reading and Fulham respectively, and it probably eased the pain of being so wasteful slightly.

Just to make things a bit more awkward for Zlatan, the man he shares his record with – Van Persie – has actually scored at Old Trafford more recently that he has.

The Dutch forward found the back of the net against his old side for Fenerbahce in the Europa League a couple of weeks ago and is set to face them again in the reverse fixture on Thursday.

After Saturday, all eyes will be on Jose Mourinho’s team selection for the game. Given how quick he was to drop Wayne Rooney for his poor form, it will be interesting to see if the Swede will receive similar treatment.
