Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is unhappy with his situation at the club in the ongoing season. The 28-year old has been one of the best strikers in Europe since his move to Spanish capital from Lyon.
Benzema who has made the position his own over the past few years has been facing stiff competition from Spanish striker Alvaro Morata who has rejoined the club from Juventus earlier this summer.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is happy with the situation as he has two quality options up front. However, the Frenchman has expressed his anger over getting substituted just 65 minutes in the Champions League clash against Legia Warsaw on Wednesday.
The 28-year old is keen to play consistent football but manager Zidane is rotating his squad to keep the players fresh. Real Madrid has now been dropped to second place in their group after a poor 3-3 draw against Polish giants in Warsaw yesterday.
Asked about the situation of Benzema and Morata, Zidane said: ‘They’re two key players, both of them will be handed playing time.
‘I know that you always ask the same thing and I’ll always give you the same answer. There’s really nothing else that I can say about it. I’m interested in the whole squad, not on individual players. You’ll see tomorrow who’ll play.’
Despite his position at the club, the 28-year old has managed to outscore his Spanish counterpart in terms of goals for the club this season which could prove vital in Zidane’s decision in favor of him in the coming weeks.
Karim Benzema has been a long-term target for Arsenal as Wenger is known to be a huge admirer of the Frenchman over the past few years. With Arsenal getting to their former best in the ongoing season, Benzema could well be tempted to force a move to London if his situation does not change at Santiago Bernabeu.
