The term ‘duck’ is used when a batsman gets out even without opening his account. Getting out on a duck is probably the last thing that any player would want and the first duck in the career is even a hard pill to swallow. A newcomer would always want to avoid such an unwanted record but not everyone has succeeded to start their Test career on a good note. So far, there have been 60 instances when a batsman has got out on a duck in his very first innings but there are few batsmen who took years to register their first duck. 5. James Anderson – 54:

The Englishman is known more for his bowling prowess rather than batting but this is one record that would make him really proud. England’s most successful Test bowler registered his first duck in Test cricket in his 54th innings, six years after making his debut in 2003. So far, he has played 119 Tests and has got out on a duck on 20 occasions.
