AUS vs SA 2016, 3rd Test: Twitter Reacts As Faf du Plessis Steals The Show With Fighting Ton 1

Expect the unexpected when South Africa and Australia lock horns against each other. The two teams have been involved in numerous games that have become a part of the cricketing folklores and the ongoing Test has all the credentials to become another memorable clash. South Africa stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis surprised one and all with his decision to declare the innings with the score reading 259/9. But given the circumstances, one can say that it was a very brave as well as smart decision from du Plessis. With only 12 overs remaining and the lights on, the in-form Proteas pacers could have put some pressure on the new-look Australian batting line-up.

Earlier, du Plessis won the toss in the first day-night game of his team and decided to bat first. However, his decision was proved wrong straight away as  Australian pacers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood reduced the Proteas to 44 for 3. The condition further deteriorated when they lost their fifth wicket with only 117 runs on the board. However, du Plessis, who had some tough days prior to the match due to ball tampering issues, led from the front and held firm from one end. Wickets kept on tumbling from one end but the Proteas skipper batted brilliantly and scored his 6th Test hundred to help his team post 259 for 9.

In reply, Australian openers made a cautious start and finished the day on 14 for no loss.
